CRI to Launch Quality Assurance Inspection Programs in MA, RI & NH

CRI recently announced that they will be conducting quality assurance inspections in approximately 10,000 residences during 2011. This quality control program is being launched in conjunction with local energy efficiency programs within Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire,

This inspection process is designed to ensure that energy efficient products are performing properly and that participating customers are receiving the full comfort and energy saving benefits associated with these comprehensive, statewide programs. Measures that are being installed by independent contractors across the region, and subject to inspection, may include: compact fluorescent lighting; air sealing; thermal shell and heating system upgrades; and installations to improve the efficiency of water heating systems, etc.

Residents of single and multifamily properties will be included in the quality control program. Inspections will also be conducted for existing homes as well as new construction projects under the EnergyStar® Program. Homes will be selected randomly to capture a statistically reliable sampling of participants in the energy efficiency programs.

In order to meet the demands of this program, CRI is actively recruiting qualified personnel to fill management, administrative and field inspector positions. Inspections will be performed under guidelines established by the Building Performance Institute and/or Home Energy Rating (HERs) Certification processes. All inspectors will be required to have one or more of these certifications prior to conducting inspections.

According to CRI, the program is likely to continue into 2012 and they anticipate that annual inspections could top 14,000 residences.
