CRI to accept multi-family homes and properties into HES

Owners and property managers at Connecticut’s multi-family housing complexes may soon be eligible to receive funds to help increase energy conservation efforts to their buildings.

Yalesville conservation company Competitive Resources Inc. is accepting applications from owners and property managers of multi-family homes with five or more connected units for the state’s Home Energy Solutions Program. The service traditionally has been for single-family homes and is part of the statewide effort to curb energy use.

Competitive Resources is working with Berlin electric utility Connecticut Light & Power to provide the HES program to owners of multi-family housing units. Unlike single-family homes where the owner or occupant requests the service, units in multi-family complexes are dependent upon one-another in their energy use and conservation. The entire building is better served by servicing all the units, rather than just one or two.

Owners, managers and residents of multi-family complexes can call Joseph Roy at 888-403-3500, ext. 117, for information.
